OSCA Scholarships

OSCA believes in the benefit of supporting post-secondary excellence. OSCA has committed to this by offering both an undergraduate and graduate student scholarship program that supports the further education of deserving high school seniors and school counseling graduate students.

Specific details related to each scholarship can be found below. All scholarship applications and related materials are to be uploaded to our OSCA Awards Site under the "Other Awards" tab. You must create an account on that site to upload materials. The deadline for both scholarships is April 30 of each year. Any questions related to either scholarship can be directed to the Professional Recognition Committee at debgray@ohioschoolcounselor.org.


OSCA Undergraduate Scholarship

OSCA will award one (1) $500 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving high school senior who meets the following qualifications:

      • Accepted to an Ohio 4-year, 2-year or technical institution of higher education (students enrolling in an online program are not eligible unless the online program is run through an Ohio institution)
      • Maintains a minimum of a 2.67 high school GPA
      • Attends a high school where at least one school counselor is an active professional member of the Ohio School Counselor Association

The application must include the following:

  • Completed scholarship application form (can be downloaded from the OSCA Awards Site)
  • A typewritten essay of no more than one double-spaced page answering the following question: "How did a school counselor positively impact you?"
  • Copy of official high school transcript
  • Letter of support written by a school counselor

All applications must be submitted online at the OSCA Awards Site by April 30 of each year.

Incomplete applications or those determined to not meet the above criteria will not be considered.

OSCA Graduate Student Scholarship

OSCA will award up to two (2) $1000 graduate scholarships to deserving school counseling graduate students who meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a master's school counselor program in the state of Ohio (students enrolled in online programs are not eligible unless the online program is run through an Ohio institution)
  • Has completed at least six (6) semester hours of graduate work (students enrolled in their final semester of study and preparing to graduate are not eligible to apply)
  • Maintains an active student membership with OSCA

The application must include the following:

  • Completed scholarship application form (can be downloaded from the OSCA Awards Site)
  • A typewritten essay of no more than one double-spaced page answering the following question: "How do school counselors utilize leadership, advocacy and collaboration to effect systemic change in schools to maximize student success?"
  • Copy of official graduate school transcripts showing a minimum of 6 completed credit hours
  • Professional letter of support written by a current academic adviser or professor

All applications must be submitted online at the OSCA Awards Site site by April 30 of each year.

Incomplete applications or those determined to not meet the above criteria will not be considered. Past OSCA Graduate Student Scholarship recipients are not eligible.
