Supporting Grieving Students at the Holidays

  • Brianna Abbott / School Counselor, Worthington Kilbourne High School

Description: Grief is challenging at any time of the year, but during the holiday season, which is often inundated with traditions and memories, the stress and pain of grief can be overwhelming. As school counselors, we can support students with the loneliness and heartache they may be feeling. This session will share information about grief during the holidays and the activities and resources used to hold stand-alone holiday and grief workshops so you can easily replicate them in your own school to help your grieving students cope and feel less alone in their grief.

Presenter Information: Brianna has worked as a school counselor for 19 years and as a grief counselor for 11 years. Using her knowledge gained from working part-time in a hospice setting, she has been able to find creative ways to support students with their grief in the school setting.

Additional Information: Pre-registration is required and will be open through the end of the day on November 11. A Zoom meeting link will be emailed out to all registrants the day before the workshop. A CE certificate will be emailed to those in attendance after the event.

The workshop is free to OSCA members and $10 for non-members. Please note that non-members who still have an outstanding balance will not be provided with a CE certificate.
