Perk Up Your SEL Lessons: Add STEAM!
Description: Best for Elementary school counselors. Join us to brew fresh ideas for infusing STEAM into your classroom SEL lessons! Discover how to use a coffee maker to explore the brain's social filter, transform Jenga into a lesson on community collaboration, and skewer a balloon to release big emotions without popping it. We'll share over a dozen engaging lessons to make social and emotional learning unforgettable. Don't miss this opportunity to elevate your counseling practice with creative and practical approaches. The goals of the session are to highlight the benefits of using STEAM to engage students in SEL skills development and to provide examples and resources to support STEAM-infused SEL lessons.
Presenter Information: Marie Weller is an experienced elementary school counselor, and Paula Vertikoff is a dedicated elementary principal, both passionate advocates for social and emotional learning (SEL). Together, they have spent years engaging students in innovative ways to understand their emotions, build resilience, and develop essential life skills.
