Foundations of Belonging: Proactive Boundary Building
Description: In this third in a series of three trainings, educators will learn three strategies for proactively creating, communicating and maintaining boundaries as a tool to build belonging. Educators will learn the differences between porous, rigid and healthy boundaries, will practice communicating their boundaries using tried and true sentence starters, and will get access to Beyond Differences exclusive Boundary Guidebook for students to help them build communities of belonging where everyone’s boundaries are respected.
Presenter Information: Beyond Differences is on a mission to inspire students to end social isolation by creating cultures of belonging. They do this through their National Teen Board, by offering free Social Emotional Learning lessons for three National Days of Action, and with free professional development training for educators. Lisette, Beyond Differences Director of Education Programs, holds a Ph.D. in Education, specializing in Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment. Frederick, Beyond Differences Professional Development Program Manager, holds an MA in Gender & Peacebuilding. Between the two of them Lisette and Frederick have over 30 years of experience in community centered work and education. They are excited to collaborate with Ohio school counselors to build belonging in the Buckeye State!
Additional Information: Pre-registration is required and will be open through the end of the day on March 2. A Zoom meeting link will be emailed out to all registrants the day before the workshop. A CE certificate will be emailed to those in attendance after the event.
The workshop is free to OSCA members and $10 for non-members. Please note that non-members who still have an outstanding balance will not be provided with a CE certificate.
