Productive Parent Partnerships: Decrease Caregiver Distress & Increase Your Calm
Presenter: Kathleen Hilchey / Strong & Kind Conflict Specialist
Description: We all can imagine “that parent” in our mind. Maybe they are demanding, aggressive, and angry. Perhaps they are overly anxious, call us all the time, and coddle their child. Sometimes they even refuse to show up at pre-arranged meetings or return our phone calls. Whoever “that parent” is for you, Kathleen will help you find ways to de-escalate their behavior and get them on your team. As her work as an anti-bullying and harassment specialist, Kathleen often works with both administrators and parents to find common ground for highly charged school-based issues.
Presenter Information: Kathleen Hilchey spent 10 summers working in camping and outdoor-education and then over 10 years teaching in the secondary public system. She is now a conflict specialist in Ontario, Canada. She works with caregivers and professionals to help them find the tools needed to meet our kid’s mental health and relationship challenges. Kathleen has recently started a micro-school for kids who need self-directed education, trauma-informed support and is neuroaffirming. She has an M.Ed. in Peacebuilding Techniques from Brock University and is a Qualified Mediator.
Additional Information: Pre-registration is required and will be open through the end of the day on August 8. A Zoom meeting link will be emailed out to all registrants the day before the workshop. A CE certificate will be emailed to those in attendance after the event.
The workshop is free and available to OSCA members only.
