Elections
Interested persons are encouraged to submit their nomination when the call for candidates is sent out each fall. The board is a representative body of the membership and cannot exist without the support of strong leaders. Below is a break down of the election cycles for certain positions.
- Be a professional or retired member of OSCA in good standing
- With the exception of any position designated for higher education representation and all executive positions, must be employed as a practicing school counselor in a preK-12 setting in Ohio at the time of election or appointment
- Hold a valid school counselor license issued by the State of Ohio
- President-Elect (3-Year Term): elected each year (must have served on the OSCA Board in an official elected or appointed role for two of the three years preceding the year of election)
- Treasurer (2-Year Term): elected every 2 years (odd years) (must have served on the OSCA Board in an official elected or appointed position for at least two full years)
- Secretary (2-Year Term): elected every 2 years (even years) (must have served on the OSCA Board in an official elected or appointed position for at least two full years)
- Elementary School Level Rep (2-Year Term): elected every 2 years (even years)
- Middle School Level Rep (2-Year Term): elected every 2 years (odd years)
- High School Level Rep (2-Year Term): elected every 2 years (even years)
- Counselor Education Level Rep (2-Year Term): elected every 2 years (odd years)
- 4 At-Large Reps (2-Year Term): 2 elected every year
